What Doesn’t Kill UsWhat Made Milwaukee Famous. (2008.)

What Made Milwaukee Famous

In 2005, the band performed for Austin City Limits with Franz Ferdinand, making them one of the only unsigned bands to play that festival. They were quickly signed with Barsuk Records. Since forming, the band has played such festivals as South by Southwest and Lollapalooza, and have opened for The Smashing Pumpkins, Arcade Fire, The Black Keys, and Snow Patrol. They have also been featured on bands-to-watch lists in Billboard and Rolling Stone.

As a Midwesterner, I was both shocked and excited to find a band that references one of my hometown destinations. Imagine my surprise when I found out the band is actually from Austin, Texas. A little disappointing, to say the least. But I’ll forgive them, because they make great music. They have bouncy indie tunes that can still make an impact on the most jaded of ears.
