SOUNDTRACK: Garden State.

A brilliant movie, and an equally brilliant soundtrack? It sounds too good to be true. But as we all should know, miracles do happen, and this miracle just happens to contain the incomperable combination of Zach Braff and Natalie Portman.
Of course, I could be talking of none other than Garden State.

Garden State

This is the movie that put the Shins on the map. Though of course, it did it in a beautiful, quirky, thought-provoking way. Written and directed by star Zach Braff, the movie follows a young man returning to his home state of New Jersey after years in California. It’s just as he remembers, save for a new redemption. Appealing to the lost kid inside all of us, the movie uses music to its advantage, and this eventually won Braff a Grammy for Best Compilation Soundtrack for a Motion Picture. It not only exposes soon-to-be indie darlings like the Shins but also creates a “New Jersey” for all of us, regardless of where we come from.
